Yann Layma, a French photographer, yearns for China, explores it, perceives it and finally falls in love with it. He gives a clear account of what China was and how it is now, including the Chinese people, their life, stories and Chinese dreams in the context of tremendous changes in the past 40 years after China adopted reform and opening up with expressive and compelling pictures in documentation, recollection and reproduction.

The first episode, “Seeking Dreams” captures the historical moments in China’s reform and opening up and transformations in China’s urban and rural areas in the pictures. The second episode, “Exploring Dreams” recounts Yann Layma’s admiration for the fast-developing Chinese society and his reflections on the relationship between modernization and traditional values. The third episode, “Fulfilling Dreams” shows his amazement at China’s innovation and wisdom and China’s care care for eco-environment. From the perspective of a foreigner, it tells about China’s past and present and looks forward to the future of an innovative.

It only demonstrates sincerity and quietly tells about warm Chinese stories. Emotionally, it is even a theme documentary. But it gives up the lofty position and leads the audience to experience a sincere cultural tour with a strong sense of immersion from personal emotion. Yes. It is totally different from the documentary as you image.

Street basketball 2008-2018 has ten years of history in China. Excellent players and teams have emerged all over China. Dongdan Sports Center has been an indispensable basketball holy land in the sports history in the past decade. But all have changed after 2014: Suspension of all street basketball activities, dissolution of teams and the arrival of We-media era seemed to dismember this niche activity. In July 2018, a group of children with dreams played a game with a time-honored New York DYCKMAN League in the name of Dongdan, the birthplace of Chinese street basketball. New York, as the birthplace of outdoor basketball, had a fierce cultural and sports collision with these children. This was the most thought-provoking point of the film besides the arena.
