Jean-Michel Frodon


Jean-Michel FRODON is a well-known French journalist and film critic at weekly "Le Point" (1983-1990), "Le Monde" (1990-2003), the former Editorial Director of "Cahiers du cinema" (2003-2009), vice president of the Commission of Aide aux cinema du monde, also the author or editor of nearly 30 books, including L'âge moderne du cinéma français, La Projection nationale.

He has been teaching at Pantheon-Sorbonne University and École Normale Supérieure. Currently he is Professor at Sciences Po Paris (Political Sciences Institute) and Honorary Professor at University of St. Andrews, Scotland.

YING Qiming


YING Qiming is a famous Chinese documentary film director, former director of the Documentary Channel of Shanghai Media Group, former general manager of real media and now the Art Director of the Documentary Channel. Main works: documentary series Mao Zedong in Northern Shaanxi, and Long March: Century Monument.

Since 1986, he has worked in documentary film at Shanghai TV Station, serving as director, producer, deputy director of the Overseas Center, and chief planner of Dongfang Satellite TV. Since 2004, he has been the editor and director of the Shanghai Documentary Channel, and has participated in the planning and production of The Bund and Can Education Change? China's Bright Future of Idealism’. These projects have led the channel to achieve significant development. Individuals have won the Shanghai May 1st Labor Medal, Shanghai Yangtze River Taofen Award, China Documentary Academy Award and the Guangzhou International Documentary Film Festival Special Contribution Award. Having a long-term social conscience and humanistic insight, YING Qiming walks on both sides of the civil and institutional divide, seeking a balance between art and business.

LU Yue


LYU Yue is the fifth generation of Chinese filmmakers , also a famous director as well as director of photographer . He is director of Nujiang, La Vallee Perdue, The Obscure, Thirteen Princess Trees,Mr. Zhao,Lost & Found,and the director of photographer of To Live, Keep Cool, The Red Cliff, After The Shock,etc.

His documentary Nujiang, La Vallee Perdue"is the winner of Best Film of 1990 Paris Anthropology Film Festival; Mr. Zhao is the winner of Best Film of 'Golden Leopard Award' at the 51th Swiss Locarno International Film Festival; Thirteen Princess Trees is the winner of Special Jury Prize at 19th Tokyo International Film Festival. To Live is the winner of Jury's Award at the 47th Cannes Film Festival; Shanghai Triad is the winner of Technical Grand Prize at the 48th Cannes Film Festival also nominated for Best Cinematography Award at the 68th Academy Awards,etc. Many of his works won heavyweight awards in the domestic and overseas.

Richard Dale


Richard DALE is an EMMY and BAFTA award winning director and executive producer with a groundbreaking track record in creativity and innovation in factual storytelling for television and film. Representative works: The Human Body, Earth – One Amazing Day, Rocketmen.

Richard has produced and supervised many international documentary projects for many major commercial and public broadcasters in UK, USA, Europe and Russia. He has been instrumental in the transformation of TV content into global business brands.

Cameron Bailey


Cameron BAILEY is a film critic and curator, the Artistic Director of the Toronto International Film Festival® and the overall TIFF organization. He was made a Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres by France's Ministry of Culture. Representative works: Hotel Saudade (director), The Planet of Junior Brown(Screenwriter).

He began programming for the organization in 1990, headed the organization’s Perspective Canada programme and founded its Planet Africa section, and worked both as a film programmer and film critic for 20 years before taking on his current role. He has also served on awards juries at festivals including Busan, Tokyo, Reykjavik, Zanzibar and Beijing.

Mary Stephen

Hong Kong China/ Canada

Mary STEPHEN is a well-known editor, the Jury of Oscar Academy Award. She was made a Chevalier de l’Ordre des arts et des lettres by France's Ministry of Culture. Representative works as editor: Le rayon vert, Conte d'hiver, 1428, A Young Patriot, Our Time Will Come, Last Train Home.

She is known as the leading editor of French New Wave master Eric Rohmer,her editing works have won the Golden Lion Award at Venice International Film Festival, Best Feature-Length Documentary at IDFA and many other awards. She has been devoted to promoting the art of editing for a long time. She is also a workshop instructor in many film festivals and universities.

Suliu HE


A famous Chinese documentary scholar and curator, Suliu HE is a famous cultural master of the Central Propaganda Department and a talent recruiter of the Four Batches. He is currently the Deputy Dean of the TV School of the Communication University of China, Director of the Chinese Documentary Research Center, a professor, a doctoral student mentor, and a documentary professional. Main published work s include: the documentary blue book China Documentary Development Report, Chinese TV Documentary History and The Complete Manual of Documentary Creation (translated).

He is a member of the Expert Committee of the National Public Cultural Service System Construction of the Ministry of Culture; Director General and Chairman of the Chinese University Documentary Film Professional Committee. The China Documentary Forum has been held nine times, and Suliu HE, as chief planner and Director of the China Documentary Academy Award, has become a driving force and professional guide in the promotion of the Chinese documentary industry.

Haibin DU


A famous Chinese documentary filmmaker and judge of the Academy Awards, Haibin DU is currently an Associate Professor at the School of Film and Animation Arts at the China Academy of Art. Representative works include: the documentary Umbrella, 1428, A Young Patriot and so on.

During university, Daoguang film group was formed and Haibin DU became a member. A Hi-8 camera was the start of a career of directing documentaries. Haibin DU’s work has won many awards, such as the Best Documentary Award of the Horizon Unit of the Venice International Film Festival, the Special Award of the French International Real Film Festival Jury, and the Special Award of Japan Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival.
