Introduction:

Africans in Yiwu is a large-scale documentary series, the first collaboration between Chinese director ZHANG Yong and African director Hodan Abdi. The documentary describes Africans living in China and shows their their hard work, capturing real- life images to promote Africans' understanding of Chinese culture and vice versa. The film is designed to let Africans tell their own story, using the structure of an international POV as well as an African narrative, touching on the 6 bittersweet topics of education, marriage, commerce, charity, food and the art of Africans living in China. The narrative captures many interactions between Chinese and Africans, from conflict to comprise.
