In the outskirts of Santiago de Compostela, the dead body of Asunta Yong Fang Basterra Porto was found. Her parents, Rosario Porto and Alfonso Basterra, were the main suspects since the first moment.

Rosario and Alfonso were taken to prison accused of their daughter’s murder. The guilt of them was decided in court, which took place in Santiago de Compostela, two years after. There were many problems to gather a citizen’s jury. Many candidates declined to participate declaring that they felt influenced by the mass media about the case.

Caso Asunta (Operación Nenúfar) is a documentary mini-series that talks about the presumption of innocence, the condemnation by indications and the role of the mass media in people’s jury trials.
